Dexter Museum now open
Monday, July 01, 2002
The Dexter Historical Society museums; the Grist Mill, Millers House and Carr Schoolhouse opened on June 19. They will be open from 10 to 4 Monday to Friday and 1 to 4 on Saturday until September.

Maria Mountain has returned for her third year as summer intern to assist Curator Rick Whitney. They have redesigned the Dexter Bottling Co. display and created a new display featuring the bicycle donated last year by Bob Downing. The new acquisitions case is filling up with items donated this year including some hand tied trout flies by Lionel LaFerriere and items belonging to Dr. Taylor.

The town of Dexter and the society collaborated on a new directional sign, installed behind C.N. Brown, assisting visitors to find the museum and the municipal parking lot. The striking gold on black design was created by Dave Pearson with illustrations by Ella Munday and executed by Ritton Signs.

The next meeting of the Dexter Historical Society will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 7:00 PM at the Abbott Museum. All interested persons are encouraged to attend. For information call (207) 924-5721 or email at dexhist@panax.com.
