DEXTER - The annual meeting of the Dexter Historical Society was held on September 17. The following officers were elected for the coming year; President, Peter Prescott, Vice-president, Christopher Holt, Secretary, Patti Grillo, Treasurer, Dave Pearson, Director, Rick Whitney. Copies of the annual report were distributed and it will soon be available on our website at www.dexterhistoricalsociety.com. The Grist Mill Museum closed for the season on September 27 having received at least 2000 visitors. Dexter's Wild West Days contributed to the total as well as several school and scout tours. Renovation work on the Abbott Museum continues. Ken Chadwick is currently working on the foundation and Fred Crouse has continued replacing clapboards beginning with the west end. The society plans on applying for and accepting a USDA Rural Development grant in the amount of $16,750.00 to assist with further construction work. Any person interested in more information may attend the next meeting of the society on October 15 at 7:00 PM at the VFW Hall on Cedar St. Messages may still be left at 924-5721 and will be answered as soon as possible. |
