The Dexter Historical Society has acquired a new collection. Many items from Dexter’s Plymouth Lodge, No. 65 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows were donated when the group disbanded recently. The collection includes boxes of records (including those of the Martha Washington Rebekahs), furniture and four large panels with individual photos of the Noble Grands. Much of the collection will be on display in the future.

The society has also received scrapbooks of the Dexter Fireman’s Auxiliary from 1956-1962 and considerable genealogy material on the Willard, Folsom and Kittridge families.

The Abbott Mill Gift Shop at the Abbott Museum, 12 Church St., Dexter is open Monday through Saturday from 10 to 4 for Christmas shopping. It offers Made in Maine items, the work of local crafters and artists and society publications, including the 2006 calendar.

The next meeting of the society will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 7:00 PM in the Crawford Room at the Abbott Museum. All are welcome to attend. For information call 924-5721.
