An 1883 billhead from the harness business of William Judson Haseltine to Job Abbott, featuring an interesting vignette of a horse, sulky, and driver. W.J. Haseltine is first mentioned as a herness maker in 1879 at the foot if Zion's Hill in a building known as the Old Tavern, and he was still in business as late as 1920, despite the popularity if the automobile. William died in 1932 as a result of a "shock of paralysis". Many Dexter residents will remember his granddaughter, Ruth Haseltine, a photographer for many years in Dexter who was best remembered for taking class pictures in the Dexter school system.
